Getting to Hirtshals without a car

Hirtshals station is the end of the regional line from Hjørring, where trains between Aalborg and Frederikshavn stop. From there it's about a ten-minute walk to Color Line's Fergeterminalen at Norgeskajen 2; buses also stop within this distance. If you drive to Hirtshals and only cross on foot, there's paid parking at the terminal. Getting around the port is described on the Hirtshals ferry port page.

Check-in and boarding on foot

Foot passengers check in at the terminal building, with the travel document from the booking and a valid national ID card or passport. In Hirtshals, check-in opens two hours before departure and closes 15 minutes before; Color Line requires all guests to be at the terminal at least 60 minutes before departure. All deadlines are on the Check-in page.

You take your luggage with you into the passenger area. On the SuperSpeed 2, larger bags can go in luggage lockers for a small fee, included in Business Class.

With a bicycle on board

You add the bicycle when you book, as a separate vehicle class; the from-price is on the Prices & fares page. No one may stay on the car deck during the crossing, so take valuables and anything you need on board with you.

On board without a car

As a foot passenger you have the same options as everyone else: free seating in Centrum Seating and the Family Lounge, the buffet restaurant and bistro on Deck 8. For a crossing of just under four hours, Business Class with Wi-Fi, coffee and fruit, or a reclining seat in Voyager Class, is worth considering. More about the ship is on the Color Line page.

Arrival in Larvik without a car

The terminal at Revet 8 sits at the town's harbour, about 2.5 km from Larvik station. Regional buses stop near the station; with luggage, a taxi between terminal and station is the easier option. If you arrive on the late sailing, you're in Larvik around three in the morning; plan accommodation within walking distance or a pre-booked taxi for that hour. With a bike you're straight onto the road from the terminal. The port is described on the Larvik ferry port page, onward travel on the Getting there & onward travel page.
